The Application of Peptides
Screening - The smaller quantity and lower purity levels of peptide synthesis are offered with the immunological and biochemical application and screening of synthetic peptides in mind. In general, such applications routinely require only small quantities of peptides (usually 1-5mg), but often benefit from the use of a number of different sequences. Should small quantities of multiple peptides be suitable AFFINITI’s ‘3P Service’ affords panels of peptides with a consequent financial saving. Applications include the mapping of B- and T-cell epitopes, the determination of essential and non-essential residues within a bioactive peptide, etc.
Antibody production - For those wishing to raise antibodies via the synthetic peptide approach, AFFINITI recommends its 5/10mg at >80% purity services. Whilst 5mg of peptide is routinely used for conjugate preparation, the availability of extra peptide from the 10mg service provides material for subsequent antibody screening and immunopurification, and should be considered to be the preferred option.
Structure/activity studies - where assured high levels of quality are essential and where larger quantities may be required, AFFINITI offers fully purified peptides at >95% purity.
